Both events will be held at the Passaic County Para-Transit Facility, 1310 Route 23 north in Wayne, located behind Ski Barn.

The program is free to residents. Businesses must pre-register by calling 973-305-5738.

“We are asking all Passaic County residents and business to show their support for recycling,” said Nina Seiden, Passaic County Solid Waste and Recycling Programs manager. “By recycling unwanted computers and electronic equipment, we will keep them out of our diminishing landfills and keep toxins such as lead, mercury and cadmium from entering our groundwater. As of Jan. 1, 2011, in New Jersey, that’s the law.”

Residents may bring all types of computer and electronic systems, monitors, hard drives, printers, keyboards, modems, telephones, copiers, CD players, cell phones, stereo systems, televisions, radios and fax machines.

Appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers and dryers will not be accepted.
